Thanksgiving 2006

I am officially turkey-ed out!!! Our first Thanksgiving dinner was at my aunt’s house in my hometown. Love the “coming home for the holidays” feel and having awesome cooks in the family. In addition to classic fixins, we had ceviche, seafood lasagna, smoked fish, and crabs. Mmm, mmm, good!!!

Then I hosted another 3-course turkey dinner for my in-laws at our house. My carpal tunnel is kicking from the last weeks of prepping and cleaning, but it was worth it. I decided to relax a little bit this year and neglected to iron the cloth napkins. Hoping no one would notice and not that he cares, but my FIL brought it up just to push my buttons :)

Since they all left this morning, Don and I have been feeling lazy all day. I don’t feel like cooking again till Christmas. And Don is enjoying having the couch all to himself again. Tired, tired, tired. We are getting old :)

Tool in the hole!

My DH — Mr. Scatterbrain Sr. — misplaced his tape measure during our bathroom remodel. Guess where he finally found it? Way down the toilet hole (ewwww!!!). His arm was too big to fit thru the hole. He tried a vacuum, a magnet… no such luck! So guess who went fishing with his thin, lanky teenage arms? James: our hero for fishing his dad’s tool out of a gunky toilet hole :)

The home destruction projects are coming along nicely, but the downstairs bathroom is making me nervous. We’re already in the week of Thanksgiving!!! Don’s confident he can finish in time for company. But there’s not much buffer time for unexpected hiccups (i.e. tool in the hole incident) and post-construction clean up. And so I wait anxiously…

Been away from blogosphere

color blindYah, yah, I’ve been away from blogosphere. Lots of home “destruction” projects to finish before Thanksgiving. Don is rushing (faster, honey, faster!) to finish the downstairs bathroom because you gotta have a second toilet at holiday gatherings! I’m choosing the wall color while Don tiles the floor.

Last night we spent 5 hours working on 5 computers at my ex-boss’ home. It was the first time Don and I worked together on the same project without arguing or trying to micro manage each other. He worked on the hardware while I worked on the software. My boss insists we should start a business since he already has friends lined up for our service. I dunno… might be too close for comfort. But I was really impressed how well we worked together.

Other than that, I haven’t been online or on my computer much lately.  So if I haven’t replied to your email, I will get to it eventually.  That’s all for now.
