Weekend news
The weekend before Halloween, I took pictures of the kids in their costumes. Are these the cutest kids or what?!?! Thank goodness my older niece and nephew were cooperative because photographing restless babies was hit or miss.

On the homefront, my jack-of-all-trades DH finished carpeting 2 rooms in 24 hours — coz he’ll be damned if he has to pay another day for the tool rental!!! *hehe* :) He made a couple of boo-boos here and there, but we saved a ton of money buying remnants and having a handy man for a husband.

Went out to dinner with former Ford co-workers last night. We lingered at the table for over 3 hours. I bet the waitress loved that! But we tipped her well.
Anyway, this sign was sitting on a nearby window in the Italian restaurant. I had the little Canon in my purse so I took a picture, of course, coz it boggled the heck out of me :)
Was the addition of chicken soup a joke? Or is there a food quirk I’m not aware of? It’s funny.

Once upon a Sunday afternoon
Once upon an NFL Sunday, there was a grumpy teenager who wanted to watch football games all day.

His ignoramus parents assumed he was bored so they dragged him out to family night of shopping and dinner.

They went to Ikea for knick-knacks and bought a new sink at Lowe’s. After working up an appetite, they went to Famous Dave’s for a huge platter of BBQ ribs, brisket, chicken, and all the fixins.

The ignoramus parents, wanting to lighten up the grumpy teenagers frown, decided to buy him a balloon hat. Appreciating the humor — for all of 30 seconds — but not wanting to loose his indifference in public, he replaced the balloon with the perpetual frown.

Having had enough of his parents’ old school wisdom in the dinner conversation, he decided to ignore them and text message his girlfriend instead about how annoying and suffocating parents can be!

The moral of the story: Someday all the grumpy, indifferent teenagers eventually turn into annoying, suffocating parents themselves. That is the circle of life :)
2 commentsNew addition
DH added a new addition to our house. They say an extra bathroom increases the re-sale value. Does that include bathrooms outside?!?! :)

J/K :) We’re remodelling the guest bath. Yesterday, he drove all the way to Brooklyn to pick up a new toilet he won on eBay. WHAT??? Don’t your husbands buy toilets that way, too?
2 commentsMore practice
I learned something new today. My 50mm lens has an aparture ring on the barrel, but I kept getting an error message on the camera when I try to manually stop the aparture (like you would on an old film SLR). There’s no troubleshooting guide for the lens and I’d already read the manual front to back.
I finally got an answer from a Flickr user w/ the same equipment. The aparture ring is there for older cameras. On new digital SLRs, the f-stop is controlled by digital buttons on the camera. (Duh!!!) No wonder the new digital-only lenses do not have aparture rings on the barrel.
Anyway, just goes to show you the learning curve, even w/ prior experience in film SLRs.
And here are more practice shots from last night. (It needs to stop raining so I can get out to take pictures. The boys are getting really annoyed w/ me already.) :)
