Awesome day!
Mannn, what an awesome day I had today… especially in contrast to my last blog about puking math out of my ears!!!
My sis and family spent the night. I played hookie from school last night and took my niece shopping for scrapbook stuff.
This morning, we baked cookies for James’ care package.
After lunch, we scrapped together. (I only got 2 pages done, while she cranked out 4 pages and 4 cards.)

Then I convinced my sister, the artist, to “fix” a Georgia O’Keeffe reproduction I got on ebay last year. The red flora is stunning, but the pink background annoyed the heck out of me so I had the piece hidden behind the piano since. Now that the pink is gone and the colors match my decor, I can finally appreciate it on a wall.

It was just a fun day doing stuff we love to do, talking and laughing, eating and talking, eating and eating :) Meaningful… the stuff memories are made of.
And of course, it’s always more fun when there’s a cute baby in the house.

Lani University
I am so sick of algebra, I can literally vomit graphs and poop equations! On Monday, I spent all day reviewing for a test that evening. By the time I left the test center at 9pm, I was so mad that I cried, kicked, screamed, and went psycho in the privacy of my car! It only lasted 30 seconds but, mannn, did it feel good!
Someone like my husband would find a sense of accomplishment at the end of such a day. I, on the other hand, felt like I totally wasted a perfectly good day on meaningless busy work. (Math wastes a lot of time and scrap paper.) I didn’t get to do anything fun or not-fun-but-still-meaningful. I’m confident I did well on the test, but I absolutely have no rewarding feelings as a result of it. Just a heavy “ugh!” feeling.
I forgot what we were learning in lecture last week, but one of my classmates asked the prof where or when we would use such an equation in real life. The answer was basically no where and never, unless you’re going to be an engineer or math teacher.
I know, I know… they want you to have a well-rounded education. Math heads should know how to write, and writers should know how to “math”… (LOL). But wouldn’t it be more practical to instead require classes in successful investing, effective child-rearing, defensive driving, debt-free living, and other useful subjects for the general population? Anyway, that’s the way it would be in Lani University.

Awww… look what my boys left me this morning. Seriously, guys, you didn’t have to! (That’s it. That’s my blog for today. Everything… Nothing but the kitchen sink :)
Mugs

I forgot to post these on Father’s Day. I did some mini-digital scrapbook layouts and had them printed on a couple of mugs for Don. If you’ve ever worked in an office, you know you’ve forgotten to rinse your coffee mug once too often! A James-mug can get away with it, but not a Lani-mug. (A little inside joke in our house :)
Asset protection
I bit!!! Finally bought an external backup hard drive to protect our digital assets. My BIL lost all his data recently. Fortunately, he was able to restore his pictures. Too much of our life is digital and it would be a royal pain to recover from a hard drive failure. Most of all, it would be devastating to lose all my digital pictures. Those are irreplaceable!!!

I got me a sweet deal, too! I happened to find it at an office supply store on sale. It’s the same model I was going to purchase online for $30-60 more. It’s a bit bigger than I expected but it’s super quiet, a highly rated brand, and much less cumbersome than backing up to individual CDs. At only $0.70 per GB, it’s sooo worth my peace of mind.
