Came in handy
Went to a BBQ at my ex-boss’ house yesterday. I brought the scrapbook I made of James’ school years to show his wife. Incidentally, their neighbor is acquainted w/ James from elementary school. When they couldn’t remember some teachers’ names, I pulled out the scrapbook where I documented all that stuff. And, voila! Also, James looks a lot different now than he did back then. So when the neighbor saw his school pics, she immediately recognized him.
So you see, scrapbooks aren’t just pretty. They’re quite useful, too… especially on Memorial Day BBQs :)

Don’t talk. Try the veal.
My algebra professor is a real sight for sore eyes! That is, until he opens his mouth and starts geeking out about polynomials and quadratic equations. *sigh* He’s definitely out of my league and young enough to be my stepson. But I felt like telling him to just stand there and smile. Don’t talk. Just smile. Thank you.
And then my other math professor on the polar opposite is a senior version of Shrek! All I could think of during lecture was, “Donkey! Ogres are like onions.” Hard to concentrate in class when the imagination is in a land not so far, far away.
Thank you very much. I’ll be here till Thursday. Try the veal!
1 commentWorth keeping
After nearly 6 yrs of marriage, I can list 100 things wrong w/ my husband… as I’m sure he can w/ his wife. But every now and then, he surprises me with 101 — make that 102 — things that make him worth keeping :-)
It took him nearly 10 yrs to earn his engineering degree while providing for and raising a family. We’ve all had to make sacrifices. At his commencement ceremony last week, he did one of the most romantic things. After receiving his degree, he stepped off the stage and yelled at the top of his lungs,
“This one’s for you, Lani !!!”
Of course, everyone else heard it but me :) I was too busy trying to get a decent shot from behind a balcony rail.
And although he deserves to bask in his spotlight, he turned around and recognized us instead (his wife and son) w/ cards and gifts in appreciation of our support of his academic pursuit.
It has been a long road. But like anything else in marriage, no pain, no gain! I am so proud of my DH beyond words!

Currently listening and bopping to Jack Johnson.
James hands me his iPod earphones. “Listen, I think you’ll like this guy.” Guess what? He may not get his iPod back from me :)
Anyway, I can’t believe how quickly my 2-week vacation ended. I scrapped like mad-crazy when I could, but I didn’t accomplish my intention of finishing 1 page per day. We plan, life happens. You can check out some of the pages I completed in between semesters by clicking here.
Lots of stuff going on in the house of Rhodes. I haven’t blogged about Don’s graduation yet because I was waiting to upload the pictures to the photo album first. I have much to say on that subject so stay tuned.
Tonight was my first class of the summer semester. I’ve been fighting a cold/cough all week. My constant coughing in class must’ve been annoying, and I considered staying home so as not to infect others. However, I couldn’t miss the first day of a college algebra class or I’d be lost for the next 3 or 4 classes. It has been 15+ years since high school algebra :) I do feel bad for my classmates. At least one of them is bound to catch my germs!

Well I have finally finished school. Guess what I found out. I am not any smarter today then I was yesterday.
Graduation was a very memorable day because of my loving wife. Her talent, as you all know, is incredible. She made invitations that everyone I gave them to were very impressed. She took awesome pictures and she planned the events after the ceremony.
I am an extremely fortunate man to have such a loving and talented wife.
Now its time to relax for a little. Maybe I will start my Masters next month. Just kidding Lani
