Dental jackpot

It’s so important to find a good family dentist. After a couple of trials and errors, I think we finally hit the jackpot. Our new dentist has been practicing in the same office for 30 yrs. He’s great with kids and cracks me up too! I think he missed his calling as a comedian/musician.

Anyway, Don and I both received a good bill of dental health. James has 2 more cavities. I think he only has 2 healthy teeth left. We’re also considering getting him braces. I know I’m grateful to God for good genes and my parents for a great dental insurance plan :)

What’s bugging you

Stupid bees have made me a prisoner in my own home!!! They’re everywhere in our front and back yards. I have to make a swift bee-line to the car to go anywhere on a warm, sunny day. I will take winter over bug-season any day!

Just a week ago, I knew nothing about plants. Today, I know more about landscaping and gardening than my brain can handle. We’re finally landscaping after 2 yrs of living here. I’m in charge of design and choosing the right plants for the right place. So I picked up some magazines and did some research online. The actual planting I am leaving to my outdoorsy husband. I don’t like to play in the dirt! Well, I would if dirt was free of bugs. If it were up to me, I’d pour concrete all around the house. No plants = no pests! For eye candy, how about some classic sculptures scattered among teakwood patio sets?

He Is Risen Like He Said!

We came late to church this morning. We didn’t know they changed the worship service times for Easter but we arrived just before the sermon began. I noticed that when I miss the praise and worship part of service, I come away still feeling spiritually hungry. I have to constantly remind myself that worship is not something I get from a church service but what I give of myself to the Lord every minute of every day.

Anyway, just wanted to greet you all a joyous Easter Sunday! While I’m waiting for my family to arrive, I’d like to share with you a short poem by children’s writer, Elizabeth C. Clephane.

Beneath the Cross of Jesus,
I fain would take my stand,
The shadow of a mighty rock
Within a weary land;
A home within the wilderness,
A rest upon the way,
From the burnng of the noontide heat,
And the burden of the day.

Upon the Cross of Jesus,
Mine eye at times can see
The very dying form of One
Who suffered there for me.
And from my smitten heart, with tears,
Two wonders I confess, —
The wonder of His glorious love,
And my own worthlessness.

I take, O Cross, thy shadow
For my abiding-place;
I ask no other sunshine than
The sunshine of His face:
Content to let the world go by,
To know no gain nor loss,
My sinful self my only shame,
My glory all, the Cross.

James and the Giant Tuba

James performed in his school’s advanced band concert this week. We are soooo proud of him! He’s the only kid who plays multiple instruments - trombone, baritone, tuba - and plays them well. As with most school bands, you get a loose trumpet honk and runaway flute squeak here and there. But James had great control of his instruments! He whines about having to practice every day but practice makes (almost) perfect!
