Archive for February, 2004
I emailed my senator to urge him to vote for the federal amendment limiting marriage only between man and woman. He (rather, his correspondent) replied and basically said he believes that the constitution should be changed only in extremely rare circumstances and that this gay marriage issue does not warrant an amendment. I wrote to him again and asked what renders an “extremely rare circumstance”? Let’s see if he has time to play a little exercise in logic with me. If he doesn’t respond, maybe I’ll go bother my other senator :)
Yah know, you can also contact your Senators or Congressman. The AFA has a great sample letter you can send by simply entering your zip code. The issue may not feel close to home now but gay marriages will be a reality in your neighborhood without support. What will be next???

No commentsIt’s only February and James is already fussing about his end-of-the-year school dance. He asked me to help him chose an outfit for the dance. Sure, why not! We had fun the last time we played dress-up for a school dance. This year he throws me a curve ball: “Lani, I wanna dye my hair and dress like a Spanish break dancer!” Jiga who ?&*$!#??? Has it been that long since I stepped off the cool bus? What in the world are Spanish break dancer clothes? The hair dye is not even an issue coz I already know it ain’t happenin’ as long as he’s living under dad’s roof. And I might consider the clothes if he can say “break dancer” in Spanish :-) Can anyone, if you’re still “wid it”, enlighten me on break dancing attire of the Latino influence?
No commentsI recently added a cool search engine on our website
Now you can search for something — or someone — in my postings and pictures. i.e. You can do a search on [James] and read only the posts about him or [cousins] and see all the pictures of the cousins. It’s a free, sponsored engine so there’s not a whole lot I can do about the layout. Check it out and let me know of any bugs.
No commentsI am so sick and tired……………..
(of what???) That’s it. I’m sick and I’m tired :) James brought home a cough and cold from school. Plus, I’ve been so busy lately that I’m not getting my proper beauty rest. *grin* TGIF!!!

We didn’t have a big party for him like we did last year coz this year’s not a milestone and we’re saving the hooplah for his graduation this summer. He invited his best friend to sleep over and Don brought a cake to youth group tonight. He doesn’t know it yet but we’re taking him and his friend to Monster Truck Jam tomorrow night. I got us FREE tickets from work.
I’m so glad his best friend from school is a Christian! Not that it guarantees them staying out of trouble, but it makes me feel good to know he flocks w/ other believers. There’s nothing like friendships w/ friends of the same Father.
Anyway, don’t forget to greet him!
